Our pre-pregnancy health check is the best way of ensuring a healthy pregnancy before you start trying to conceive. It’s designed to assess medical conditions and lifestyle factors that can affect pregnancy and help you make sure that your body is ready as you embark on this exciting journey.
What to expect at your appointment:
- Consultation with Dr Hayes
- Detailed discussion of medical history and personal health concerns
- Abdominal and pelvic examination
- Blood tests:
- Blood group & antibodies
- Full blood count
- Haemoglobinopathy
- Hepatitis B surface antigen
- HIV
- Random blood glucose
- Rubella
- Syphilis
- Toxoplasmosis
- Varicella
- Midstream specimen of urine (MSU)
- Prescription arrangement
- Written medical report
- Written notification of all test results
Enhanced pre-pregnancy health check:
- Cervical HPV screen: £150
Cytology screening on request or as required +£50 - Vaginal swab to check for bacterial infections: £100
- Vaginal swab to check for 7 sexually transmitted infections and diseases: £250
Additional referral options:
- Pelvic ultrasound scan
Additional tests can be added at your request or Dr Hayes’ recommendation. Please note additional fees may apply.
Please note the above fees are only applicable to self-paying patients. Additional hospital fees may also apply and will be billed to you direct by the Portland Hospital. For further information, please contact the PA team.
