Complimentary telephone consultation
It’s usual to plan 30 minutes for this consultation

First home visit : £450
It’s usual to plan 2.5 to 3 hours for the first home visit
Within 48-72 hours of you leaving hospital, your midwife consultant will visit you at home, for a chat and she’ll first ask simply ‘How’s it going?’
She’ll make sure you’re feeling ok, answer any questions you have, and try to help with anything you’re finding tricky. A bit of tea, sympathy and practical help can often be all it takes for you to be able to relax and actually start enjoying this. And if you’re calm and relaxed it’ll help your baby be calm and relaxed too.
Your midwife will offer you how-to’s on all the skills you’ll suddenly need as a new mum and advice on your diet, any supplements and pain relief, and. Generally, she’ll look to make sure everything’s going well, and just the way you want.
She’ll also undertake a full wellbeing assessment of both you and your baby.
Follow up home visit: £300
It’s usual to plan 1.5 to 2 hours for the follow up home visit
Around 5-10 days after you leave hospital, a second, and even a third visit may be helpful to make sure everything continues to go ok, to check for important developments, and identify and address any issues with the wellbeing of both you and your baby, including:
- Check your baby’s feeding pattern
- Check your baby’s weight gain
- Breast- or bottle-feeding issues
- Newborn blood spot test (heel prick)
- Perineum check and/or C-section wound check
- Help address any worries, mood-swings, ‘baby blues’
